Top 8 Movie Suicides

When it comes to the moments where you face ‘checkmate’, or what you have done wrong, or if you’re not ready for something to face, or if you have nothing left, then it can be dreadful when you face suicide. Cause when you do it, you’ll head straight to hell. In this list, we look at the top 8 suicides in movies.

Note: No seppuku moments in this blog post. And NO celebrity suicides too.

8. Thelma Dickinson and Louise Sawyer (Thelma & Louise). Kicking off the start on the list, two female best friends, and are not bisexual, were ready for a fishing trip when they took a wrong turn. After Thelma was being sexually harassed by someone, Louise shot that male dickhead with a revolver as they try to get away from the police and FBI. They became anti-heroes as while surrounded by the law at the climax in their blue car, between a rock and a hard place, these two women decided to keep on going. By driving their car off a cliff!

7. Chief Willoughby (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri). Diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer, and couldn’t find the murderer behind Mildred Hayes’ daughter seven months ago, this police chief of Ebbing, Missouri doesn’t like being mentioned on that message with those three billboards. Unfortunately when his pancreatic cancer was getting worse, he had no choice but to cover his head with a bag and put a bullet to his skull. Every cop mourned him tearfully including one of his buddy officers, Jason Dixon as he went berserk to tear that billboard business office apart.

6. Young Joe (Looper). A 25 year old tough hombre assassin for a Kansas City crime syndicate, got himself in a pickle when his older self travelled back in time to seek revenge on a crime boss and his criminal pals when they were just kids. By killing them in cold blood, to avenge his murdered future wife. At the very end, when he saw for what was going to happen, as how his heart was beating, he had no choice but to shoot his heart out with his blunderbuss. Erasing his older self from existence swiftly, for good riddance.

5. Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet (William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet). Two star crossed lovers in fair Verona Beach as they do not know each other very much in this 1996 adaptation. After Mercutio and Tybalt were killed, Romeo became an outlaw as Juliet was given a potion by Father Lawrence. By faking her death, breaking Romero’s heart, he went on a rampage through the city to see her Juliet. Romeo took a vial of poison, and made it to Juliet’s funeral. Suicidally, by drinking the vial, he made it too soon as Juliet woke up. Heat-broken, Juliet committed suicide as how he did.

4. William Murdoch (Titanic). First officer on the RMS Titanic, he was in charge of controlling the helm of the ship. Especially when it came to that iceberg crash scene, as it tore a hole in the ship. And when it comes to the sinking, as well as for passengers to abandon ship, he went timid when he shot two innocent passengers with his Webley Mk. 1 revolver. Realizing on what he had done wrong, he horrified saluted his comrades as a farewell, and committed suicide by putting a bullet to his head. He never forgave himself after that.

3. Ellen Ripley (Alien 3). After encountering the Xenomorphs and crash landing on a prison planet, she thought she was safe until two alien facehugger parasites came along in the crash, that were still alive. One that impregnated a dog, as a dog alien was born and went loose, and the other impregnated her. A baby alien queen ready to be born and lay eggs. So at the climax, realizing that she cannot trust the Weyland-Yutani team, she committed suicide by falling backwards into the furnace, carrying the baby alien queen with her.

2. Brooks Hatlen (The Shawshank Redemption). Portrayed by the elder James Whitmore, we take a look on him rather than that nasty warden. After had been at the Shawshank Penitentiary for nearly 50 years, he was paroled in 1954 as he gave out his final farewell to his friends and Jake the raven too. And while looking all around, everything became advanced to him as he wasn’t really prepared. He committed suicide by hanging himself in a bedroom with a final message. Red found that out, as he wrote something also to it.

1. Nicky (The Deer Hunter). Taking the number 1# spot on the list, this is how Christopher Walken won the Academy Award For Best Supporting Actor in this five time Oscar winning Vietnam War movie. After rescued from a P.O.W camp from the jungles in Vietnam, he and two of his friends got separated. And by going AWOL, he joined a Vietnamese gambling club where people win money by surviving Russian roulette. There he won big cash, until the fall of Saigon as one of his friends came to get him home. Unfortunately, he forgot so much, he didn’t recognized him. And that was when it came to the climax where he takes ‘one shot’, ending the game.

Do you agree with my picks? Which movie suicide did I skip by chance?

If I ever end up dead too soon, I would never ever do like how they did. Cause I can go to hell if I do like how they did. Not even alcohol intoxication. If it’s by terminal illness like cancer, or killed in an accident or getting murdered, like for what happened to Anton Yelchin, Sharon Tate and Chadwick Boseman, that I would face. Then both my parents would have my entire life savings on my bank account. Cause they love money a lot more than anything on Earth, nothing else. If I was never been born, or if I end up dead too soon, they would still have all of it. And not care about today at all.
