Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957)

October 26th, 1881 was day of the most famous gunfight, in western history. Last for 30 seconds in Tombstone, Arizona Territory, USA, Doc Holliday, Wyatt Earp and his two brothers Virgil & Morgan, were the most famous cowboys against a group of outlaws, at their duel began at 3 pm.

Rather than those lousy movie adaptions of that gunfight, this is number 1#. Kirk Douglas is Doc Holliday as he will mean business, and Burt Lancaster is Wyatt Earp. Joining them are DeForrest Kelley as Morgan Earp, and John Hudson as Virgil Earp. The bad guys occur to be Lee Van Cleef, Dennis Hopper, and a cast of others.

Thanks to John Sturges and Paramount Pictures that did this, I give this 8.4 out of 10 stars. To wrap this up, this was nominated for two Oscar awards. Best Film Editing and Best Sound Recording. However, “The Bridge on the River Kwai” deserved Best Film Editing, as “Sayonara” with Marlon Brando and Red Buttons stole Best Sound Recording which wasn’t fair. That movie with those two was too dramatic, but this one was worth it.

So if you happen to be interested in western gunfights than spooky Halloween stories, this is the right one. Besides, this was four days in 1881 before October 31st when that gunfight was on. And in 2021, same day, same month, and same time, the 140th anniversary of this historical western gunfight.
