Weathering With You (2019)

I saw this at Cineplex in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada with my own eyes. The very first time I ever saw Makoto Shinkai’s new anime masterpiece in theatres. Jamie O’Hara came along too, as we together gave this a thumbs up. Just like Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert.

From the acclaimed anime director, Makoto Shinkai who did “Your Name”, “5 Centimetres per Second”, “Children Who Chase Last Voices”, and “The Garden of Words”, now comes his new movie that impressed a ton of anime fans in both Japan and in North America. It was released in Japanese first, before they had it in English, thanks to GKIDS. All over North America, every anime fan agreed that this occurs the best anime film ever.

As took a while to get it ready to have it in English dub, this was a runner up by going for Best Foreign Language Film at the 92nd Academy Awards. Unfortunately no thanks to the voters, this didn’t make it in.

With the voice talents of Brandon Engman, Ashley Boettcher, Barbera Goodson, Emeka Guindo, and Michael Sinterniklaas, this took place in Japan during the rainy season, as a high school freshman ran away from home and moved into Tokyo. During his stay, he ran into a cheerful and sturdy girl named Hina Amano. Not only she prays and believes in God, like Desmond Doss who survived Hacksaw Ridge in Okinawa, she can actually control the weather!! By stopping the rain, and bring the sunshine to the cities. She contains a remarkable power that no one, especially an anime fan, had ever seen their eyes on.

Hina Amano occurs to be the only person who can control the weather. Imagine on bringing sunshine, controlling ame ( rain) and yuki (由紀 snow), the effort to stop global warming, wildfires, rising heat in the summertime, and freezing temperatures in the winter. She has a remarkable power indeed, and does believe in god for sure.

Just before this anime film came out, “Geostorm” however was like that on controlling weather, but had disastrous results with future technology. Gerald Butler was only person to stop all this, as the world had knew that they were taking their future too far. The same thing to Stan Lee, creator of Marvel Comics when he did a fleshy headed mutant character on X-Men, just before he and Douglas Rain were as dead as Eli Wallach in November of 2018.

So besides a fleshy headed mutant like for what Bob and Doug Mackenzie have described that is absolutely true, and a sign of how we do not want to go too far on future technology that could really do that, this definitely shows on how she can have on such an remarkable power indeed.

Together, both Hina and that high school freshman developed a romantic relationship, as they remained together no matter what. By avoiding the police, Jamie O’Hara and I were all OMG when saw the climax on how they were above the clouds. After rescuing her and more rain pouring down for three years, Tokyo became flooded all over like Manhattan from “The Day After Tomorrow” and “A.I.- Artificial Intelligence”. With no freezing temperatures. Just flooded all over, as everyone were adjusting to a new future. Not even those robots in disguise as humans like for what you see in “A.I.-Artificial Intelligence”. No thanks to that robot creator Prof. Allan Hobby, portrayed by William Hurt.

There are three scenes in the movie that Jamie O’Hara and I totally enjoyed on.

1. When they met two anime cosplay girls as Hannah Blackstone/Cure Black, and Natalie Whitehouse/Cure White from the hit anime TV show, “Pretty Cure”; as I seen the whole anime TV show on tv channel YTV when it came to North America. (It was the very last they had it, before YTV got a lot worse).

2. The runaway high school freshman rescued an homeless kitten, as one of his friends took the kitten in as a pet. And by the end, the high school freshman was all OMG when that cat grew, and was the size of a big soft pillow.

3. Taki Tachibana and Mitsuha Miyamizu from “Your Name” made their cameo appearances in this anime masterpiece. Mitsuha was the woman who gave the high school freshman a ring to Hina Amano. And Taki was at home giving them chopped up suika (watermelons in Japanese) as treats for them.

So for a remarkable success, 10/10 stars is what I give. A++. Thumbs up from both Jamie O’Hara and I. Just like film critics Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert.

We’re running out of time for polar bears and their survival…fast!!

The Weather Network would never lie on such news like so.

While the locusts in Africa need to be destroyed and be gone for good, the heartbreaking news are these polar bears in the Arctic.

Climate change is getting a lot worse, as the ice out in the Arctic are getting thinner than ever. Polar bears are finding things difficult, by hunting for food, looking for a real natural habitat, and their survival.

Between 2001 and 2010, their population was decreased by 40%, largely due to the loss of sea ice. No thanks to not just climate change, but to oil and gas affection. Scientists in North America are working around the clock to think about better ideas, while the Russians, far up north were able to have a few polar bears as visitors. Searching for food, as they released a few back into the wild. Orcas and belugas too.

If this would keep up, polar bears would be long gone extinct, along with the rest that are endangered, as they’re would be nothing left of this world that we can have, and ever love on. In addition, we do not want to let any of this happen.

So we’re running out of time for polar bears and their survival…fast.

There are three words to know. And it’s to save these polar bears, along with the rest of endangered species, and more that we need to do. Especially stopping disasters like wildfires in Australia, and the floods in Africa. I did a project once in high school on stopping the pollution in China.

What are we gonna do?! CHANGE THE WORLD!!!!

The Grapes of Wrath (1940)

Based on the book by John Steinbeck, this became so famous, it was nominated for seven Oscar awards, but by winning two for Best Director and Best Supporting Actress, it shows us on how the Great Depression can really be.

Henry Fonda, John Carradine, and Tom Tyler are the only stars I know of in this movie. Set during the Great Depression, it was a drag on how people can lose their homes by bank foreclosures. Farmers on their farmland too, because of dusty storms and new tractors with caterpillar tracks.

So while Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow roamed around the South Midwest on robbing banks and stealing cash like John Dillinger, an Oklahoma family reunite with a long lost son, as they with a few more people make their way to California, USA.

Only the grandparents died of old age during the long road trip. Henry Fonda’s character however, disappeared in the distance after arriving in California, as they realized on how law and order was corruptive in California, by messing around with the Oklahoma people. So after his disappearance, they moved on to a new beginning.

For a success, 7.8 out of 10 stars is what I give. Recommended for seniors only.

*Interesting fact: Henry Fonda was gonna win his Oscar award for Best Actor, but his closet pal, James Stewart deserved it for his performance in “The Philadelphia Story”. He was thrilled that his friend had won it, and deserved it. They were former roommates first in LA and New York, as they remained close friends throughout their lives. Just before Henry Fonda died in 1982, while James Stewart lived until 1997*.

Locusts are 1# that must be extinct, destroyed, and be GONE FOREVER!!

“This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, so that they may worship me. If you refuse to let them go, I will bring locusts into your country tomorrow. They will cover the face of the ground so that it cannot be seen. They will devour what little you have left after the hail, including every tree that is growing in your fields. They will fill your houses and those of all your officials and all the Egyptians—something neither your fathers nor your forefathers have ever seen from the day they settled in this land till now”

— Exodus 10:3–6. The 8th plague of Egypt. Locusts.

In one of its bible stories, it has been said that when Moses became a saviour to the people of Egypt, before he and his people were being set free, he did the ten plagues of Egypt. One of them besides frogs and flies, are locusts.

Locusts are the 1# insect species that must be extinct, destroyed and be gone forever.

Locusts are insects that are like grasshoppers and crickets, but are much bigger. As they fly, eat a ton of crops and leaves, and multiply than for what you see in those movies. (Except for ‘The Ten Commandments’, ‘The Prince of Egypt’, & ‘Exodus: Gods & Kings’).

Centuries later, they’ve expanded and have been getting a lot worse ever since. And as this world is facing on what species must be saved, before reaching 2070 AD and 2100 AD, from global warming and so forth, LOCUSTS ARE THE NUMBER 1# INSECT SPECIES THAT MUST BE DESTROYED, EXTINCT AND BE GONE FOREVER.

Far in east of Africa, since the funeral of Nelson Mandela in the 2010’s, millions of locusts have darkened the skies over the gulf region Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, & Qatar as they can remind you of that biblical plaque scene. In early 2020. The locusts have been swarming across the Arabian peninsula and the eastern part of Africa, as one of the most devastating outbreaks in decades.

Locusts can travel up to 95 miles in a day and consume as much food as 30,000 people every day, putting strain of crop production, food security, and millions at lives at risk. Experts have been warning that the main cropping season is now at risk, and the situation remains most serious in east Africa, where floods have already devastated the food supply. First in early 2020, are the wildfires in Australia, now this.

According to the news, Saudi authorities have doubled daily aerial spraying efforts to combat these local swarms. The United Nations had given a warning, that a second hatch of these locusts could threaten the food security of millions across Africa and the Persian Gulf.

Since the people in Hollywood have mentioned the wildfires in Australia, we too along with them should stop those swarms of these locusts. By bringing them to their actual extinction, be gone forever, and they never again consume more food that Africa contains. ALL LOCUSTS MUST BE DESTROYED FOR GOOD!!!!

Besides, Africa occurs to be the home of famous people we know from there, it’s animals too, what stories took place, history also, and so on and so forth.

And I remember the first time I saw locusts. Just in an animated TV show and a movie once, before those versions of that biblical story of Moses and the Ten Commandments. First is “The Land Before Time V: The Mysterious Island”. Didn’t like it, but you should’ve seen how much they ate like that ‘Ruby Gloom’ tv episode.

However, with a special thanks to ‘Tribal Cats’, a tv episode in the animated cartoon TV show, “Sagwa the Chinese Siamese Cat”, I never knew that kitty cats could have them have snacks. But not too much. No matter if a palace cat, or an alley cat, or those tribal cats that could have them.

And as of 2020, since we do not want too much of those leaf eating locusts anymore, and must be extinct forever, one thing that they will face to eat; if the United Nations will accept this.

M2 flamethrowers. By having them burnt to crispy dead critters. And the only good locust, is a dead locust for riddance.

The Secret Life of Pets 2 (2019)

Since I enjoyed the first movie from Illumination Entertainment, this was two times the fun, and two times hilarious.

With Kevin Hart, Lake Bell, Dana Carvey, Eric Stonestreet, and etc reprising their roles, someone very famous joined them as an animated canine for the first time. And it’s not Steve Coogan.

A Welsh furry sheepdog named Rooster, portrayed by Harrison Ford!

(Cowboy makes a rooster call, as four cowboys laugh it)

I was all OMG when I saw him. Wise, fierce and courageous, Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel would’ve been surprised to see this.

Cause since James Stewart was the voice of a canine named Wylie in “An American Tail: Fievel Goes West”, I knew someone like him would do the same thing. Besides, James Stewart, Robert Duvall, John Wayne, and Glen Campbell would be very proud of him in his animated performance. And as I agree with the fans, he needs his own movie as a part of the whole ‘secret life of pets’.

So while he was dealing with that Jack Russell terrier who was having his seven year itch at his farmland, Snowball the rabbit (portrayed by Kevin Hart) became a super dude by calling himself Captain Snowball.

By working with a Shih Tzu doggy named Daisy (portrayed by Tiffany Haddish), he was able to rescue a harmless but friendly white Siberian tiger from a nasty circus. And it was a very good deed that I’m very proud on, thanks to him and his performance. Cause since the Ringling Bros and Barnum Bailey Circus got shut down, due to animal cruelty, high prices and more in 2017 after almost 150 years, everyone became aware of how animals need to be saved when they told us on how some can be endangered species. As life must go on for them. And never again, we shall see a circus on being cruel to animals.

What I love on this, are four moments I enjoyed on.

1. The harmless white Siberian tiger scared the living daylights out of the Chloe the cat’s owner. Rather than spitting hair balls on her bed by waking her up every morning.

2. Kevin Hart was hilarious as that Captain Snowball, as he would be like Shazam, Superman and Green Lantern. (Zachary Levi, Christopher Reeve, and Christopher Meloni).

3. How Rooster met the Jack Russell terrier as he taught him a few things to understand on.

And 4. While the Jack Russel terrier was getting his cone at the vet, he met the twin sister kittens who said together….

“We start fires…”

I called out, “Who’s your daddy and owner?! Stephen King?!?!?!?!”.

So for a success, 9/10 stars is what I give.

In conclusion, Kevin Hart as Captain Snowball can be amazing as how Larry Boy was from “Veggie Tales”, but will be ready to face more villains like this one with its female eye-gor like sidekick for example.

Female eye-gor sidekick: Soon, the United States of America will be annihilated, as a new land will be all ours….

The Alchemist: I wanted to say that part!

Rooster however, can be a cowboys best friend when he admires someone like John Wayne, or Clint Eastwood, or Glenn Campbell, or James Stewart. (And as I agree with the fans, he does need his own movie)

Last but not least, those twin kitty sisters. Where they’ll be going with their daddy and owner, Stephen King, both will have shining’s for them at a special place, deep in the Rocky Mountains, outside of Denver, Colorado, USA….

Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)

Canadian actor Jim Carrey, while dealing with Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh as the hosts at the 76th Golden Globe Awards, mentioned about this. For he became the villain in this movie, since he was ‘The Riddler’ in “Batman Forever”, and the Grinch in the live action movie of “How the Grinch stole Christmas”. After months of redesigning it after the first teaser trailer, they made this film better.

I’ve been a fan of this fast blue hedgehog from another world, since I saw its anime TV show, “Sonic X”, as seen on tv channel YTV.

Last time I saw this, it was the last rerun. Season 1, episode 9, “Amy on the Beach”. In which Sonic has only one weakness: water. Like Ash from “Pokémon” and Luffy from “One Piece”, he drowns easily. Amy the magenta hedgehog, and Sonic’s girlfriend (portrayed by voice actress Lisa Ortiz) gave him a seashell good luck bracelet to protect him from the sea waters, while they were on vacation. Dr. Robotnik (or Eggman) interrupted as he ruined their peacetime. Amy went haywire after he cracked some of the seashells of Sonic’s good luck bracelet that she made for him. Cream the rabbit (portrayed by voice actress Rebecca Honig) supported Amy as Tails (portrayed by voice actress Amy Palant) helped Amy out from the water after a furious fight. Sonic mended it and kept it until the series was over.

In this film, after interviews and so forth, I never knew that James Marsden was a fan of the video games until he volunteered for this movie. Jim Carrey in fact, deserved to be the villain as he made me entertained.

Bad version (top). Splendid version (bottom). Sonic portrayed by Ben Schwartz.

Ben Schwartz was the voice of Sonic in this movie. After escaping from his home world to our world, he spent 10 years hiding away from humans until he caused an electromagnetic pulse that wiped out power in the Pacific Northwest. By becoming a target by the U.S. government, they hired Dr. Robotnik to hunt him down, and terminate him….with extreme prejudice.

Sheriff Tom Wachowski portrayed by James Marsden

The shockingly moment was when Sonic met a sheriff for the first time as you should’ve seen their reactions when they first met.

One dislike was when they got drunk at a local bar, as Sonic went haywire and couldn’t resist himself. Before he caused a bar fight that made me smile.

Dr. Ivo Robotnik (or Dr. Eggman) portrayed by Canadian actor Jim Carrey

After those moments, and a wild adventure by looking at Dr. Robotnik’s true nature, Sonic used one of his rings by taking him to a mushroom planet. And henceforth, no longer as Robotnik, became Dr. Eggman after he spent 87 days on plotting his revenge. In a sequel that I sure hope it occurs.

Tails portrayed by American voice actress Colleen Ann O’Shaughnessey.

Besides, in a mid-credits scene, Tails came out and is looking for him. Buts that’s not all, Tails is portrayed by Colleen Ann O’Shaughnessey!! The same voice actress who played Sora from “Digimon”, Yoshino from “Digimon: Data Squad”, and Ino Yamanaka from “Naruto”. Besides, no one has seen her voice in major role films as seen in theatres in years since “Digimon: The Movie”. The ‘Digimon Adventure tri’ movies came out secretly.

Hopefully soon, Cream the Rabbit and Amy Rose will be next, to be live action characters like Tails and Sonic..

I sure hope they have a sequel very soon in future. Especially when Tails, Cream the Rabbit, and Amy Rose join Sonic.

So for a success, 8/10 stars is what I give. In conclusion, since I saw live action Pokémon, a twin tailed fox and a hedgehog too, I can be all ‘Holy Schnikes!’. Chris Farley style. Especially when I see Amy Rose and Crean the Rabbit in live action. However if I ever see a live action talking Digimon (short for digital monster), that ever exists like that hedgehog or those Pokémon from ‘Detective Pikachu’, I’ll have Tom Wachowski’s hilarious reaction.

(Sheriff Wachowski screams as he sees Sora and Biyomon)
(She screams back)
Biyomon: My goodness!

The Blue Max (1966)

This is one of Peter Jackson’s favourite First World War films.

There are medals that veterans have gotten, since they fought in the First World War. In Britain and Canada, there is the Victoria Cross. In America, the Congressional Medal of Honour. In Germany, the Blue Max.

During the First World War, far out in the Western Front, many Germans were facing the Allies. Both in No Man’s Land, and in the air. But not at sea unfortunately.

James Mason from “Journey To The Centre Of The Earth” occurs to be the only actor I know who is in this. And this does have special effects and sounds like for what you heard the movie like “Paths of Glory” with Kirk Douglas. Joining him is Carl Schell as Manfred von Richthofen. A.k.a- The Red Baron!! By the looks of him, he did had a handsome look before he met his fate at age 25 on April 21st, 1918. Just after the battle of Vimy Ridge. For he was shot down and terminated, thanks to Canadian pilot Captain Arthur Roy Brown from Ontario, Canada.

The Red Baron had a Blue Max medal on him, as a ton of German officers and aces wanted to win the same medal he deserved on. By winning that, they had to take down more than 25 aircraft including those odd looking hot air balloons. Even if they were to look like that red one that I didn’t like on, from that “Thomas the Tank Engine” TV show. With or without colour.

However, one by one including the Red Baron, they slowly met their fate as the war was coming to an end, as the Allies were getting stronger. No hot air balloons this time. One of them, portrayed by George Peppard, got himself into an aerobatic stunt too far when his plane crashed at a local airfield.

Recommended for seniors only, 7/10 stars is what I give.

In conclusion, Carl Schell lived until he was 91 years old on June 6th, 2019. May not have appeared in much movies and TV shows. But he was the only historical character in this movie that showed his character appearance.

Chinstrap Penguins population declines in Antarctica (and is getting a lot worse)

The world just keeps getting worse, huh? First the wildfires in Australia, then for how lousy some films stole Golden Globe Awards and Oscar awards than the ones we were going for, now this!

This is a different type of penguin that must be saved like the rest, from climate change. And how they must be saved if the declining gets a lot worse. These chinstrap penguins in western Antarctica has fallen by 77% since they were last surveyed in the 1970’s.

“The issue is more what are these particular chinstrap penguins telling us about climate change, probably, and other drivers of global ocean change in this part of the Antarctic, where it’s warming more dramatically than anywhere else; in this part of the Antarctic, currently, five degrees C [celsius] over the last 20 or 30 years”.

– Steve Forrest, conservation biologist.

Scientists by using manual and drove surveying, techniques, have been investigating on the damage since they’ve heard the news about this. While there is that, as how they are blaming climate change, a non-governmental environmental organization called Greenpeace has been calling on the United Nations. By committing to protect 30% of the worlds oceans by 2030 AD. No question about it.

So there is that, as how these penguins must be saved. And I mean all of these chinstrap penguins. Cause if this keeps up, then they’ll be nothing left of them. And we do not want to let that occur. Although a a few scientists are aware of the oceans, but let’s make sure they watch over these critters. Cause we do not want to lose them. All must be saved on these chinstrap penguins.

Carly McKillip’s 31st Birthday

This blog post is dedicated to Canadian voice actress/singer Carly McKillip

Since former Canadian voice actress Moneca Stori turned 50 years of age in early 2020, it’s Carly McKillip who turned 31 years of age. Born on February 13th, 1989, she began her career in voice acting as everyone loved her as Sakura Avalon. In the hit anime tv show, “Cardcaptors” including “Cardcaptors: The Movie”. As seen on TV channel Teletoon.

Since she got into other cartoons and TV shows like “The X-Files” that I’m not so sure of, she and her sister did an amazing job in a TV holiday movie, “Coming Home for Christmas”. It was the last movie she was in before she married a guitarist named Darren Savard in 2015. So while film critic Roger Ebert died at the age of 70 in April of 2013, she gave up her career in acting and got into music instead. Just as how Macaulay Culkin did.

Today marks her 31st birthday as she and her Darren Savard have been married for almost 5 years. She may will want to retire completely like Moneca Stori, depending on what gives. But us fans still do miss her and her voice acting friends. Like Samuel Vincent, Matt Hill, Maggie Blue O’Hara, Richard Ian Cox, Kelly Sheridan, and more.

Not only she needs to attend to anime conventions and ComicCon conventions, but like her friends, she definitely needs to return for voice acting in anime. Depending on what concerns her.

And tbh with, I kinda like Darren Savard. Not only as a musician, but also reminds me of Josh Duhamel. Colonel William Lennox from four of the “Transformers” movies, and Technical Sergeant William Pierson from one of the “Call of Duty” video games.

So in conclusion, I hope she does return to voice acting in anime mostly. Like how her friends are, as of 2020. And by celebrating her birthday, I was able to watch some of the best episodes of “Cardcaptors” that I had ever watched. In fact, saw her cameo appearance as a high school girl in that Andy Samberg movie, “Hot Rod”. She may find Andy Samberg funny, but wouldn’t like that years later, Samberg was messing up with Jim Carrey at the Golden Globe Awards. But the amazing news on Jim Carrey? He’s Dr. Robotnik in “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie.

Crikey! It’s the Irwin’s (TV show)

September 4th, 2006 was when Steve Irwin got into that stingray injury to his heart, and was found dead at age 44. Every ‘Crocodile Hunter’ fan mourned him, and were all OMG when he did voice acting. In the 2006 animated movie, “Happy Feet”. Which was why that movie deserved that Oscar award for Best Animated Feature Film.

Since then until now, the Irwin’s such as Terri, Bindi and Robert have been watching over the animals of the Earth. In Australia, and outside Australia also, by going across the world to North America and Africa.

By aiding animals like the incredible Dr. Pol from Michigan, USA, they have cared for them a lot. Such as kangaroos, zebras, lions, tigers, rhinos, giraffes, grizzly bears, sea turtles, whale sharks, alligators, cobras, crocodiles, Komodo dragons, otters, wolves and more. We know that a few of these are endangered species, but most of these need to be saved, as how they must breed and live on forever. Same thing to the orcas, penguins and polar bears mostly.

By looking at the origin of how Terri was born and raised, where she met Steve and how they brought their kids to some aquariums and zoos, I believe that they shall fulfill their destiny’s on how all must be saved.

So far, after two seasons, they are indeed, subarashi-des. (Amazing or fantastic in Japanese). Although I do feel sorry for them when the news has spread about the wildfires going on in Australia. Ricky Gervais mentioned this at the Golden Globe Awards, as well as a few Hollywood celebrities. (Except for Michelle Williams).

I sure hope that they’re a-okay once the wildfires are all gone. And hopefully, they can restore nature by planting new trees and plants before Mother Nature strikes again. In conclusion, if they do a third season, fourth season or fifth season, I’ll be ready for them.

So far after two season, ‘B+’.
