Birth of the Dragon (2016)

By looking at kung fu fighting and karate, between China and Japan, they are always unique. Especially by learning the ways of martial arts.

Bruce Lee however, in San Francisco in the year of 1964, met Wong Jack Man as they had a secret fight together.

This was nine years before he became a phenomenon and was in that smash hit movie, “Enter the Dragon”.

Philip Wan-lung portrays as Bruce Lee, as Xia Lu portrays as Wong Jack Man. Together as one, they definitely beat Jack Black, Bryan Cranston, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogen, David Cross, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Angelina Jolie in those “Kung Fu Panda” movies.

One move out of those two fighters, Angelina Jolie as Tigress for example, would have damaged bones all over her body, bloody eyes, not stay alive for about two hours, and not see the love of her Brad Pitt from that violent Second World War movie by Quentin Tarantino, “Inglorious Basterds” to save her.

But like that Hayao Miyazaki movie, “The Castle of Cagliostro”, they were not just fighting for fame and glory. They were trying to rescue beautiful Chinese girls from a nasty Auntie in which she is almost like a yakuza but only different.

So like how Lupin rescued Clarisse from a nasty count in that anime masterpiece, Bruce Lee and Wong Jack Man in this movie were rescuing those Chinese girls in distress from that nasty woman.

They sure did, and were ready to make history as legends. And on that day, Bruce Lee as a real fighting dragon was born.

Although I do feel very sorry for what happened to the real Bruce Lee, after “Enter the Dragon” was released, that was lead to his death.

But as for those two, Xia Lu and Philip Wang-lung, they are as good as how the real Bruce Lee and Wong Jack Man would really be. And it makes me wonder this…

“Will they beat Jet Li in a fighting tournament?”.

I think they really will. And as for this movie on Bruce Lee and Wong Jack Man, by introducing to those two new Chinese stars, 9/10 stars. A straight ‘A’.
