Yu-Gi-Oh: The Dark Side of Dimensions

In September of 2001, a few days after 9/11, “Yu-Gi-Oh” was born on both the anime TV show, and the trading card game that everyone became very interested on.

And in that TV show, Yugi found a mystical treasure of ancient Egypt. The Millennium Puzzle. It not only suited him, but can possess magic as a pharaoh was released. An older version of Yugi as he became a badass.

In June of 2006, from Battle City Duels and facing mad men, that couldn’t help it, the mystical objects including the Millennium Puzzle were given back to the pharaoh’s tomb, and were gone forever. And the pharaoh returned to his own home world in his own dimension. But not for long…

10 years had passed until Yugi, Bakura, Tèa, Joey and Tristian were graduating from high school. They were ready to go in their separate ways, but will meet again once more.

For example, Yugi wanted to help his grandpa more often, but will get into the card games for sure.

The same went for Tristian, as he’ll be working with his dad at plant on a real job.

What about Joey and Bakura? They remained to find a job and be normal like how other people do. But are still interested in the duel game.

Especially for Joey’s sister, Serenity. For she is sweet as an angel.

Last but not least, Téa Gardener. My sweet Téa Gardener. The number 1# character that I really admire on. She decided to follow to her dream as a ballet dancer. And before you answer anything, she did. Right after graduation, at the very end of the movie, she took the first class plane.

But before everything and the “Yu-Gi-Oh” saga came to a successful conclusion, what about Seto Kaiba? Yugi’s rival? He went back to the pharaoh’s tomb and found the remaining pieces of the Millennium Puzzle. He had them all together, and wanted Yugi for the pharaoh to duel him.

There were only three final duels, including the very last one. The pharaoh did return, but never spoke. Kaiba, Yugi and the pharaoh together, had to get rid of their rivalry and stop some darkness from another dimension.

From those to how everything was done, the Millennium Puzzle and the rest of the pharaoh’s treasures, that possess darkness, nevermore that they returned and possessed a human. They were gone forever. Nevermore. So did the pharaoh by returning back to his home dimension. And henceforth, that they really did, the sibling rivalry of Yugi Muto and Seto Kaiba, have finally ended. They never fight again and will remain as friends for sure.

I was glad that this came to an end. And how they’ve made one last anime masterpiece.

Which is why I give this a straight ‘A’ and 10/10 stars. Very well done.

And henceforth, Yu-Gi-Oh had became a success. Especially by dealing with monsters, gods and pharaoh’s. Although they did this as a surprise release, and never showed this on TV, but I can tell you this…

YTV Canada and WB Kids did brought that anime TV show to an end in the summer of 2006. But I really didn’t mind on watching one last adventure. And how the sibling rivalry finally ended.

Especially for the pharaoh mostly.

Yu-Gi-Oh: The Movie (Pyramid of Light)

This was on YTV Canada as I saw this anime movie with my own eyes!! Right on that TV channel, before that anime TV show to that card game was cancelled.

From the days of how the gods of Egypt were, to the birth of the duel monsters and masters for the pharaohs, and hence that the Millennium Puzzle was given to Yugi, there was another treasure.

The Pyramid of Light. A clear crystal pyramid monument as it possessed evil.

The dark god Anubis had this, before he became a mummy as a real human.

Along with him, are the Egyptian Dead. Real mummies. Yugi, Téa, Joey and Tristian faced the Egyptian dead with no weapons at all. This also possessed Yugi’s rival, Seto Kaiba as he and Yugi’s friend, the Pharaoh had a battle together. With dark magician girls, blue eyes white dragons, trap cards and more, Seta Kaiba really didn’t care. He wanted to beat him in a duel.

But after Anubis was finally destroyed, their lives didn’t get taken away. They remain to be alive, and nevermore, cause mayhem.

So for the glory days of how anime were on YTV Canada, and how I love that anime TV show and card game, 10/10 stars is what I give. A straight ‘A’.

Ponyo- 10th anniversary

In 2008, anime director Hayao Miyazaki, was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s story, ‘The Little Mermaid’. Which was why he made Studio Ghibli masterpiece, of a sea adventure to remember.

GKIDS was able to help Studio Ghibli on this movie, but his latest work didn’t make it in the Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature Film. Luckily for Hayao Miyazaki, he was very pleased that the fans loved it.

‘Ponyo’ tells the story of a goldfish, that ran away from her father, and became a real human. She befriended a boy on land, and his mom was amazed at how she is. By looking at Ponyo, she’s appears to be a very special goldfish. She had the hair, head and eyes of a human, with a few fins, and no sign of gills. By the time she was a human girl, she became a very energetic, and curious girl who was never afraid of anything. She only transforms back to becoming a goldfish, by the time she needs water. Which was why her friend stayed by her side.

With the voice talents of Tina Fey, Matt Damon, Liam Neeson, Cloris Leachman, Frankie Jonas, Cate Blanchett, and Noah Cyrus, GKIDS has chosen this cast very wisely.

10 years later in 2018, came the 10th anniversary of that anime masterpiece. So in honor of it’s 10th anniversary to ‘Ponyo’, GKIDS and Fathom Events together, have had that and eight more Studio Ghibli movies to be premiered in select cinemas. For only a 3-day event at the end of March of 2018.

So I wish that movie a happy 10th anniversary to remember, and how this really beats those fairytales by Hans Christian Anderson.

Porco Rosso- 25th anniversary limited edition

In the early 1990’s Studio Ghibli did this masterpiece that took place years after the First World War came to an end. And how it changed a man’s life forever.

A WWI veteran, named Porco Rosso (or Marco Pagot) is a bounty hunter that takes on airborne pilots. He is a half man, and half pig because of a spell that occurred to him during the war.

Right after his seaplane got damaged, he got it brand new thanks to that lovely mechanic, Fio Piccolo. From that to breaking his curse, he became a human again.

Thanks to GKIDS, they did an all star cast. With the voice talents of Michael Keaton, Cary Elwes, and Kimberly Williams-Paisley, they made a great team. And how it was one of Kimberly’s early debut movies as an actress. Besides, Kimberly is an anime angel as Fio Piccolo.

Years later, now comes the 25th anniversary of this. And with this DVD limited edition set, with the DVD movie, an art book, and some photos or postcards, this can be wherever videos are sold.

However thanks to Fathom Events and GKIDS together, they gave this a second chance to be premiered in select cinemas. As a part of Studio Ghibli Fest 2018, this was premiered for a 3-day event in late May, 2018.

I already have this movie, and I’ve seen this a couple of times. Besides, this masterpiece does needed something and a second chance to be premiered in select cinemas.

I still think about Kimberly as Fio Piccolo. Especially in that swimming scene. And she definitely beats Michael Phelps.

Princess Mononoke- 20th anniversary limited edition

This masterpiece did had its 20th anniversary, and how it was premiered by Fathom Events and GKIDS. However, in honor of its 20th anniversary, they did this limited edition set. With the DVD movie, an art book and some photos or postcards.

From an amazement on massive white wolves, to a war against the forest god, two warriors clash together to stop this fighting. With the voice talents of Billy Crudup, Claire Danes, Billy Bob Thornton, Gillian Anderson and Jada Pinkett Smith, they were amazing!!

Especially for how magnificent the white wolves are, and how beautiful San is. And as for both San and Claire Danes, their eyes today can be as silver as the full moon itself.

For the Studio Ghibli Fest 2018, they have premiered it again. For a 3-day event like last year. Only on July 22nd, July 23rd and July 25th in the summer of 2018.

So by getting this limited edition wherever videos are sold, or by going to that 3-day event in July for anime fans that wish to see, it’s their option of choice.

So I wish that Studio Ghibli masterpiece a happy 20th anniversary, and to Porco Rosso that’s coming up next.

Digimon Adventure tri: Confession

It took me two months to find Part III of the “Digimon: Adventure tri” saga. And to tell you the truth, rebooting is the only option.

Right after “Digimon Adventure tri: Determination”, Meiko was really sad about Meicoomon brainwashed. But it really wasn’t her fault. The infection on the Digimon made it a lot worse. And it was able to get into the Digimon that the Digidestined had. Before things could get a lot worse, they had to face only one option. A reboot.

Which was why after the reboot was completed, they went back to the Digital World, and lost their memories. The kids went after them, except for Meiko. Meicoomon may be still alive, but this will come to a successful conclusion for sure. Especially when they get the Digimon emperor.

Which is why I give this a straight ‘A’ and 10/10 stars. Very successful.

And just when Part III ended, from Kari’s whistle that she had as a kid, to the Digimon that are little and have amnesia, something tells me that Part IV is coming soon. In “Digimon Adventure tri: Loss”. But until we get to Part IV…..

つづく… (Tsudzuku…)

To Be Continued…

Spirited Away- 15th anniversary limited edition

Since this won that Oscar award for Best Animated Feature Film, this made film history thanks to Studio Ghibli’s director, Hayao Miyazaki.

Months before Fathom Events and GKIDS had premiered this event again for Studio Ghibli Fest 2018, this came out. The 15th anniversary limited edition of “Spirited Away”. A DVD bundle pack that contains the DVD movie, an art book, and some photos or postcards I believe.

This is pretty much like how they did the Studio Ghibli DVD pack, all directed by Hayao Miyazaki, this shows everything and how it made cinematic history.

A 10 year old girl, who winds herself in a spirited world, has to find a way to break the spell, and head back before anything could ever happen. The best part about it, was how she met a boy, who could turn himself into a Japanese dragon.

So rather than for what happened to Jack Nicholson in “The Shining”, and Jeff Goldblum as a schoolteacher that gets himself chased by a headless demon, this beats everything. And how Japanese culture is the very best. Especially on how they believed in creatures that no one had ever had their eyes on. Which was why this won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film and deserved it.

For a 3 day event once more, at the end of October, it would be nice to see that in theatres, thanks to GKIDS and Fathom Events, or just buy the limited edition wherever DVD videos are sold. In honour of it’s 15th anniversary.

Castle in the Sky- 30th anniversary limited edition

Pretty much like the DVD limited editions of “Princess Mononoke” “Spirited Away”, and the Hayao Miyazaki collection, this contains the DVD movie, an art book, and some photos or postcards. I already have the DVD movie and the art book a while ago.

However, in honor of it’s 30th anniversary for Studio Ghibli, they did this DVD bundle pack, in case anyone cares to buy this. Also, like for what happened in 2017, GKIDS and Fathom Events in 2018, have brought Hayao Miyazaki’s masterpiece for Studio Ghibli Fest 2018. Premiered for a 3 day event at the end of November of 2018, in select cinemas. By giving a second chance for this to be premiered in theaters, as anime fans need to see this movie.

With the voice talents of James Van Der Beek, Anna Paquin, Cloris Leachman and Mark Hamill, comes the story of how a young boy and a young girl, that find a mystical amulet which leads to a place called Laputa. A castle in the sky, very deep in the clouds that no one had ever set foot on.

Pazu and Sheeta were the very first to claim Laputa. Rather than how Daffy Duck as Duck Dodgers was, until he started fighting over Planet X against his rival, Marvin the Martian.

So by either buying the DVD limited edition pack, or watching the movie in select cinemas for its 30th anniversary, it’s your choice or decision. And I just wish this movie a happy 30th anniversary for sure.

GKIDS- Studio Ghibli Fest 2018

Thanks to GKIDS, Fathom Events, and how they support the work of Studio Ghibli, they brought back only nine movies to select cinemas.

And those are…

  • Ponyo (March 2018)
  • The Cat Returns (April 2018)
  • Porco Rosso (May 2018)
  • Pom Poko (June 2018)
  • Princess Mononoke (July 2018)
  • Grave of the Fireflies (August 2018)
  • My Neighbor Totoro (September 2018)
  • Spirited Away (October 2018)
  • Castle in the Sky (November 2018)

Premiered at the end of each month, from March to November, they did only a 3-day event. Also, Fathom Events were dealing with the last three anime movies of “Digimon Adventure tri”, to be premiered also before the entire six part movie saga could come to a successful conclusion. So both had their hands full on those anime movies to be premiered. “Yu-Gi-Oh: The Movie” too, and placed a sweepstakes contest. (And I definitely saw that on that TV channel, YTV with my own eyes, back in the glory days of that TV channel).

Since I saw every Studio Ghibli movie on DVD, I was very pleased and surprised that they got a second chance to be premiered again in theatres. The same went for “Yu-Gi-Oh: The Movie”.

Téa Gardener in that movie, may have been frightened by undead Egyptian mummies, but Studio Ghibli never does that.

And soon, it’ll be the anniversary, of those masterpieces since it has been years. From the night that “Spirited Away” won the Oscar award for Best Animated Feature Film, to how the rest were sadly left out nominated, and the day that Hayao Miyazaki won an Honorary Oscar award for Best Lifetime Achievement, Studio Ghibli deserves more Oscar awards for their masterpieces. And how we can celebrate, anniversaries to Studio Ghibli’s masterpieces.

The REAL Kray Twins

Those were the real gangster twins. Ronnie Kray and Reggie Kray. Years before the movie came out in 2015 with Tom Hardy.

By looking at them, they are just brothers that look alike. But if you mess with them, they will mess you back badly.

Before going to jail, this photo was taken in an interview on TV that they had. And the very first. They talked about their lives, how they became gangsters, and how they together, ruled London, England.

There were mentioned in the news years later in March of 1995, and October of 2000, right after they died years apart. White beautiful flowers were given to them, on the day of their funerals. And remain to be buried together in Chingford, Mount Cemetary.

So while anime fans were mostly into “Digimon: The Movie”, in the autumn of 2000, their legend ended. But thanks to a TV special episode, and that movie with Tom Hardy, it does really make sense. Especially some books that authors wrote, two years after the 2015 movie came.

They looked really good in that photo, on that day of their interview in the 1960’s. And they deserved to rule London, England as gangster brothers.

Patamon: “London, England? In the UK? Why there?”

Willis: “I don’t know. But we’d rather be on a new TV channel than YTV, Teletoon, and the rest of those North American TV channels”

Sylvester’s spoiled brat: “I’ve heard about it, but I won’t go there and like it”
