Alien: Covenant

F*** the movie “Passengers” with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. This is WAY better. Especially when you watch this over Halloween. In this sequel to “Prometheus” and a prequel to the “Alien” franchise, witness the birth of Xenomorphs and Neomorphs. Since the day H.R. Giger imagined for what he drew on, that changed everything.

A massive spacecraft, with almost 20 crew members, carrying 2,000 colonists, and 1,140 human embryos, were heading for a peaceful human home world that they can start life on. It takes almost 20 years to get there. That was why they were in cryogenics in deep space. Until they make it all the way there.

However, an interstellar storm ruined for what they had. The crew were awaken and disturbed, and almost 45 colonists were killed in their cryogenic chambers, including the captain himself. He was burned alive.

After some repairs, they received a transmission from a nearby uninhabitable planet. It was from the survivors of the Prometheus expedition. So, an investigation was on. But they didn’t realize for what they ran into. From a crashed alien ship to sacks of spores, and the egg chamber, witness an alien paradise. Where the birthplace is, before alien queens are born.

Michael Fassbender was not just one android, but two androids. One from the “Prometheus” movie, and another who serves the crew of the massive spacecraft. Along with him are Danny McBride, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Nathaniel Dean, and James Franco as the ship’s captain before he was burned to a crisp.

For a successful horror flick, 9 and a 1/2 out of 10 stars. However, I do warn you. Cause once you see those deadly aliens, and how they are born before alien queens, it’ll f*** you all night long.

John Merrick, the Elephant Man (1862-1890)

This was John Merrick in real life, as the real Elephant Man.

And this was John Merrick, in the 1980 movie of the same name, 90 years later.

John Merrick who once lived on this Earth, was really human. Rather than being an elephant or an animal. He just had some deformity that no one believed on.

Deformity means that someone can have a body problem. For example, Siamese twins stuck together. This can be a heartbreaking problem. Especially if they are alive or dead.

Next are the cast members in the 1932 movie, “Freaks”. They had deformity problems, but became famous in that very old movie. No arms or legs, small faces, very little, or any of that. But some midgets from that movie years later, were in the 1939 colorized movie, “The Wizard of Oz” as the munchkins.

Thirdly are those movie icon characters. Sloth from “The Goonies”, and that raving psychopath Michael Myers in that John Carpenter movie, “Halloween”. They had deformity problems on their faces. Jason Voorhees too from “Friday the 13th”, but was way worse.

Fourth and the very last, that in countries such as Iran, Africa or Vietnam, kids can get deformity problems really bad. Especially if they are affected by Agent Orange. They can die from that very easily. Both deformity and Agent Orange, that toxic chemical gas.

John Merrick here, was the very first with that deformity problem. Born on August 5th, 1862, he was born with that deformity of his. He couldn’t speak, he had body skin problems, and became known as the Elephant Man. In a freak show as a part of the circus.

A few years later, London surgeon Dr. Frederick Treves took him in. And taught him the privilege of speech, manners, and kindness. By age 27, he was definitely, a very kind  man. However, he did wanted to be more normal like everyone in the UK. Which was why on the evening of April 10th, 1890, at age 27, rather than having more pillows on his bed, he had only one pillow. And died in his sleep when the Elephant Man’s neck was dislocated. Dr. Treves examined his body the next morning on April 11th, 1890.

After the Elephant Man died in early 1890, Dr. Frederick Treves dissected John Merrick’s dead body.

By examining his skin samples, and using plaster casts on his head and limbs, the skeleton of John Merrick was placed on display at the Royal London Hospital in the UK. He did everything on John Merrick before Dr. Treves died at age 70, in late 1923.

And here is what is interesting on John Merrick….

By wearing that white hood, and dark black clothes, they wouldn’t recognize him. He wore that outfit a lot until his reveal and accident days later.

He may have died at almost 30 years of age, but he was definitely a human to the people of the UK. Rather than being called ‘The Elephant Man’.

The Elephant Man (1980)

This was my very first Anthony Hopkins movie, before I saw him with Jodie Foster in “Silence of the Lambs”. And the very first time that he was ever with John Hurt in this.

Anthony Hopkins, John Hurt, and Anne Bancroft were in this movie, as this tells the true story that you might be surprised or shocked to see this. Nominated for nine Academy Awards and four Golden Globe awards including Best Picture, this made history.

In the wildlife of Africa, Mrs. Merrick was attacked by wild elephants. She was killed by them, but was given deformity to his newborn son. Years later, he was in a freak show, as a part of the circus. He was known as the Elephant Man.

That was when Dr. Frederick Treves, a London hospital surgeon met him, and took him. By giving him special care, he was able to talk like the rest of us days later. The Elephant Man was John Merrick.

From that surprise to how he told the people that he is a human being, you’ll believe everything on him. So for a surprisingly story of John Merrick, or the Elephant Man, 8/10 stars. Really good.

Point Break (1991)

This movie is better than the 2015 remake, and that 2007 stupid animated mockumentary movie, “Surf’s Up”.

Keanu Reeves, Patrick Swayze, Gary Busey, Lori Petty, John C. McGinley, and Tom Sizemore were in this together, that one must explain everything. From the FBI to surfing, this explains everything. Almost like a sad story.

Surfers, disguised as Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter and Ronald Regan, have been robbing banks. Only a rookie FBI agent from Ohio, was after them. He found out on who they were, and how they loved surfing and skydiving.

At first, it was an impressive friendship between the surfing guru and the FBI agent. But was heartbreaking when everything was revealed, and how his surfing guru friend died in the very end. He was at his point break at a massive wave, until he died while surfing. With his friend dead, and how it was heartbreaking to lose a friend, he gave up working for the FBI by throwing his badge in the waters by the beach.

For a really good movie, from the 1990’s, almost 9/10 stars is what I give.

Fairy Tail AMV- Terror Time Again

Rather than the rest of AMV music videos on this song, by nitwitted YouTube subscribers, this one by a lucky YouTube subscriber shows the perfect AMV music video.

On Halloween music, this song from Skycycle, made me interested in this. I haven’t heard this song since my childhood days on that cartoon TV channel Teletoon.

And the way “Fairy Tail” can face the horror, especially close to Halloween, you’ll enjoy this every year close to October 31st. Or perhaps on Halloween night.

Karin: Chibi Vampire (anime TV series)

Like “Vampire Knight” and “Ouran High School Host Club”, based on a manga book series, this can be another anime TV series to watch over Halloween. And this has better vampires than the ones in “Hotel Transylvania”.

A family of vampires moved to Tokyo, Japan as their lives are different. They love having blood, but one of the vampire family members is different. She doesn’t suck blood from humans. She gives blood to humans. But when her body overheats, she has a nosebleed so huge, you’ll be surprised.

Her name is Karin Maaka. And she does like being out at daytime. But can be embarrassed for she might reveal herself on what she really is. And what accidents and mistakes she can cause. Especially in high school. Although I feel sorry for her, but I’m glad that as a kind un-vampire, she did good deeds throughout this anime TV show. To her family and friends, and how two boys were fighting over her. One of them was a vampire hunter.

And I don’t think she’s really embarrassing at all as a different vampire. She’s kind, beautiful, and reminds me of Yuki from ‘Vampire Knight’.

So for a success and to watch this over Halloween in October, 10/10 stars. And Karin Maaka, you’re not an embarrassment at all. You’re a success.

Silver Bullet (1985)

Based on the horror novel by Stephen King, Gary Busey, Lawrence Tierney and Everett McGill were in this werewolf tale that turns out to be a success.

While “Stand By Me”, “The Shining”, “The Shawshank Redemption”, “The Dead Zone” and “Misery”, were a success and made movie history a bit, so did this here. The rest such as “Carrie”, I gave them a quadruple ‘F’ minus.

In the spring of 1976, in a small town in Maine, a reverend only becomes a werewolf when the moon is full. Therefore, he killed almost 10 people in a few nights. However, a handicapped boy (like Rob Kovic) discovered everything. His sister too. And by relying on their uncle, to a wise craftsman, they used two silver necklaces to be melted down, into only one silver bullet.

Silver bullets only kill werewolves. Regular bullets is not enough. But in “Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of The Were-Rabbit”, only a 24 carat gold bullet can kill the massive rabbit. But it takes a full magazine to kill lots of werewolves. Cause you may need not just rifles, but the 30 caliber machine gun, the 50 caliber machine gun, the M1 carbine, the M1 Garand, the M60 machine gun, and the Vickers, all loaded with silver bullets. Lots of silver bullets. To get into hunting werewolves.

9/10 stars is what I give this. Except for a few words that they spoke of in the beginning when it’s daylight. In fact, this was four years after “The Howling” was made.

Chobits (anime TV series from CLAMP)

Here are some things you need to know, when you’re 15 or a few years of age.

1. When you are living own your own, you’re responsible for yourself on living in a new home. Let’s say an apartment for example. Therefore, you need to know on paying the rent, the electric bill, phone bill, water, heat, groceries, laundry, and that sort of stuff. And to keep going with your life, you need work. A pay job you’re interested in. Depending on how the government can be. And jobs also.

2. Computer androids haven’t been invented yet. But in a matter of years, they will be. A sign of artificial intelligence, to how robots as computers can be manufactured. Just as long as they don’t malfunction too much. Or what you do to them.

3. With those two together, you’re responsible on computer androids and your life. To the age of a new era.

Which was why this happened that became a success. Based on the manga books by CLAMP that did “Cardcaptors”, they did this that you should know. When you’re on your own, and when you are dealing with a computer android.

A rowdy country boy, didn’t get himself accepted into college. And do get more education, he had no choice but to head for a special school in Tokyo, Japan. And at the age of a new era, android computers known as ‘persocom’s‘ were new. Android computers.

He found one abandoned on trash bags. He reactivated it, but the problem was, as a she, this computer android was suffering from amnesia. She had no recollection of who she is, or who made her.

It took a long time to make her know things, but was able to work as a baker girl in Tokyo. Pretty neat really.

Along with him to sort things in life are a neighbor friend, a girl who works with him at his job, a teacher also, the manager of the apartment homes, and a computer genius. He also owns four android computers as his maids.

It maybe annoying on a tiny girl ‘persocom’ who does these excersises, and how that rowdy country boy loves to become a pervert, but we do have to be aware of artificial intelligence. Cause since I saw that movie, “A.I.- Artificial Intellegence”, some android computers can really admire you for life.

In that movie, “A.I.- Artificial Intellegence”, some robots were programmed to love. Believe me, but you do not want those robotic androids.

In “Chobits”, they are much better. And after a successful conclusion, I give this almost 10/10 stars. Straight ‘A’ is alright with me. The annoying part was the little computer android being loud with these excersises.

But this one here, serious and how she tells the truth, she reminds me of another anime character I know of…

Grape-kun (1996-2017)

This Humboldt penguin may have been like how Hachikō the dog was, but this one was much different. And better.
Grape-kun the penguin was born on April 16th, 1996 in the Hamura Zoo, in Hamura, Tokyo, Japan. They call him ‘Grape kun’ because of that purple tag that he had on his left arm.

He lived throughout the rest of his life in the Tobu Zoo. But when zookeepers started posting up cutouts of anime characters from “Kemono Friends”, he loved one for it was in his habitat. It was a anime penguin girl. Grape-kun would stare at that cutout for hours, going as far as trying to reach the cutout that was placed on a tall rock.

Grape-kun’s devotion to the cutout earned him fame and a global fanbase on the internet. He was an Internet star.

On Thursday, October 12th, 2017, just before Friday the 13th, Grape kun died when he was 21 years of age. He was old, but he really loved that anime penguin girl cutout.

After his death, many fans gave him flowers and other gifts for his passing. A temporary message board also at his funeral. It maybe a tragic day for fans who loved Grape kun very much, but this happens to be the very first penguin to be an anime fan.

R.I.P. for an anime fan who happens to be a penguin.

The Mummy (2017)

From 1932 to 2008, most of the mummy movies have had males as the mummified monsters from Egypt. Jet Li too in “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” as the last one.

But never in the history of monster movies, that a female would ever portray as a mummy. Which was why this came. So rather than those shitty cartoons on how mummies are, she became more serious than how Arnold Vosloo did in the 1999 version and that 2001 sequel.

In this 2017 version, Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe faced the horror of a mummified demon. From the sands of Egypt, to the streets of London, England, she was resurrected to unleash hell on Earth.

However after a sacrifice and rituals, this tells the morale of this movie. While a character is monster, he/she has to be aware of what one might cause on. Havoc, murder, or destruction. That was how Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, the Invisible Man, the Mummy, Frankenstein’s monster, the Wolf Man, Dracula, Bride of Frankenstein, the Phantom of the Opera, the Hunchback of Notre Dame and the Creature from the Black Lagoon were in from 1930’s to the 1950’s. Together, they were Universal Monsters. From Universal Studios, they were the original monsters that made movie history.

And here, shows the first step of a reboot to a cinematic universe called the ‘Dark Universe’. Finally, for a successful movie that Tom Cruise can learn a lesson on, 9/10 stars. Except for some parts that were shitty in this movie.

Rotten Tomatoes did say that this movie didn’t turn out to be good. But by watching this over Halloween and learning about its secrets, this really turns out to understand very well, thanks to Universal Studios.
