Mao Kobayashi (1982-2017)

A few weeks after Mr. Pogo, a Japanese wrestler and Sonny Chiba’s wife went to heaven, so did she. She was 34 years of age when he died of breast cancer. Very bad for women to die.

However, what makes gives me a surprise is that she, her sister Maya Kobayashi and his husband have been in some interesting anime TV series.

From two live movies, eight TV shows in Japan, and one anime movie based on a manga series in 2007 called “Captain”, she once worked for Shonen Jump magazines. The same manga company that did ‘Naruto’. Her sister on the other hand, worked on only three anime movies. “Boys Over Flowers”, “Arashi no Yoru ni”, and “Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa”. Every anime fan loves “Fullmetal Alchemist”. Especially some students in college I look at.

But before she worked for Shonen Jump, she was a weather caster. An anchorwoman who watches on the weather. And very clever than any anchorman or anchorwoman can be. And in Japan, they are not obtuse than that Will Ferrell in both “Anchorman” movies.

In 2009, she met Japanese actor Takatoshi Horikoshi, and were married in 2010. Her husband in 2016, before her death, was in a two-part new years eve special of the anime TV series, ‘Detective Conan’. Or ‘Case Closed’ for short on the North American anime TV title.

In 2011 and 2013, they had two children. One daughter and one son. Reika and Kangen Horikoshi. On October 2014, that was when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was in stage four, for what was worse to come until her death on June 22nd, 2017.

I feel very sorry for her, and how she died. She was turning out to be a splendid actress anyway. Especially on what anime TV shows or anime movies she was gonna get into next in her life. However, I am proud on both sisters on the Kobayashi family tree. Both her and sister Maya.

R.I.P. Mao Kobayashi. Like Sonny Chiba’s wife, you’ve had a wonderful life as a beginner to becoming a Japanese anime actress.
