Battle of Britain (1969)

Ever since “A Bridge Too Far” on ‘Operation: Market Garden’ was an Allied failure, and a German victory in the Battle of Arnhem, against the bridge too far, this here is a total British victory in WWII. In dogfighting, many years before ‘Top Gun’ was born.

In June of 1940, after the Battle of France, the Battle of Britain began. When many squadrons of the Royal Air Force came into action. Against Nazi German bombers and fighter pilots.

By bombing R.A.F. fields, their target: London, England. However, many fighter pilots fought back. The Britains, Canadians, New Zealanders, Iseralites, and every Allied country there is against Nazi Germany in WWII.

Moreover, this has an all star cast. Harry Andrews, Michael Caine, Trevor Howard, Curt Jurgens, Ian McShane, Kenneth More, Laurence Olivier, Nigel Patrick, Christopher Plummer, Michael Redgrave, Ralph Richardson, Robert Shaw, Patrick Wymark, Michael Bates, and Susannah York. Damn!

However, this never won an Academy Award for anything. Not even Best Picture. But I can tell you, that this was before “Top Gun”. On dogfighting and how fighter pilots and bombers crash in the ocean, country fields as well as some in the city of London.

In fact, while Buckingham Palace was bombed, one Nazi German bomber crashed on the rails and the actual location of Paddington train station.

For a success, 10/10 stars. An ‘A+’ here. And I can tell you one thing: WWI or WWII bombers never crash their aircraft and gallop off to breakfast, at famous train stations. Cause well, that would be a tight situation if Queen Elizabeth II saw this.

Assassin’s Creed (2016)

You’ve played the video game series by Ubisoft. The entire “Assassin’s Creed” series. Until by 2016, came this very first live action movie based on those video games.

When there is a desendant of someone long ago, you would know that person. And for what he/she was, is an assassin. Armed with wrist blades, and secret weapons in their hands, their mission was to find the most biggest piece of treasure in history, since the Garden of Eden once was. The Apple of Eden.

In the video games, they would be in the events of time. The Third Crusade, The Renaissance, The French Revolution, The Industrial Revolution, the Colonial era, Imperial China, the Victorian era, and the October Revolution.

For what happened in this movie, was the Spanish Inquisition. In the future, a criminal was executed in prison. But was resurrected when they need him and his descendant to find the Apple of Eden. Or else Torquemada will have it in his possession. And they did. In the grave Christopher Columbus or the ruins of his sailing ships to the new world.

However luckily, they found the Apple of Eden just in the nick of time. After that, by the creed and an oath, they swore to protect the Apple of Eden. No matter what should happen.

The cast members I know in this are Michael Fassbender. Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson with his son Brian, and Javier Gutiérrez Álvarez as Torquemada. (After all, let’s face it! You can’t Torquemada anything!)

And for those events in time. Such as the Spanish Inquisition, the French Revolution, and the October Revolution, where would you find Mel Brooks when you need him? You saw for how he did in his movies. (Except for ‘The Twelve Chairs’. That was a waste. Those two other events in history, he did those in “History of the World, Part 1”. That was amazing. Gene Siskel of the Chicago Tribune gave it a thumbs up, but Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave it a thumbs down cause of its toilet talk).

For this here, based on those video games, 8/10 stars is what I give it.

Vivian Kubrick interview

During an anniversary of the JFK assassination, a legend showed up. And everyone were surprised of her. Composer, dog lover, cameo actress, and daughter of Stanley Kubrick, Vivian Kubrick showed up. She stated that she lives in Dallas, and has saw for what America had done. Especially when that fat pig Trump became the next U.S. President.

Ever since she made a cameo appearance in “The Shining” and “2001: A Space Odyssey”, she changed her hair from brown to ruby red. My mom’s hair is grey-ish like if she’s Mrs. Bates from “Psycho”. But I like hers regular brown when she was younger.

Like me and how everyone else is facing America today, gone insane and not the way it is, we do not appreciate changes in this future.

She still remembers for how Stanley Kubrick was before his death in 1999. For he was extraordinary in film making. And like her father, rescuing animals is a very good deed for her. However if Stanley Kubrick was alive and saw everything, he and Vivian will not appreciate for what movies, TV shows and how America had gotten into. Such as Edward Snowden, threats for the environment and everything. And if Al Gore saw more of this, he would fear the whole Earth would collapse.

That’s why we need to change, and never get into anything that can change lives on this Earth very badly. And for Vivian Kubrick that I was surprised to see, I believed for what she said on everything in this interview.

Hokusai the artist, and Miss Hokusai

Hokusai. A brilliant Japanese artist as he is always very wise. Before he did his ‘Great Wave off Kanagawa’. Sometimes her daughter Miss Hokusai, thinks he can be clumsy really. But I think, both he and Miss Hokusai, were brilliant artists that I ever saw to believe.

Thanks to this anime masterpiece, “Miss Hokusai”, from Production I.G., I now trust Japanese art today.

And throughout that anime movie, while Hokusai believes in art, ghostly spirits that maybe real, and Japanese dragons, Miss Hokusai was like a true mother to her younger sister, when she was born blind.

Not only this anime movie was nominated at the Awards of the Japanese Academy for Best Animated Film, but like that anime movie “The Boy and the Beast”, this was a runner up to the Academy Awards in North America. But never made it in. Only “The Red Turtle” and “When Marnie Was There” made it in when they lost the award for Best Animated Feature. The same for “Kubo and the Two Strings”.

While painting and drawing, they never clean up their art messes, and never cook for themselves. Not especially for people who come over. Cause in the summer of 1814, in Edo, Japan before that place was called Tokyo, everything was different. Centuries ago. And how art appreciates them.

The same for Ming Miao, this character from a TV episode of “Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat”. In which art in Asia, is beautiful.

And whenever something ruins to their artwork, like Stanley Kubrick that famous film director before he lived, they would have to start over again. Until they get it right.

These characters from “Sagwa the Chinese Siamese Cat” too when they paint for fun, and work for the Magistrate on scrolls.

So Hokusai and her daughter Miss Hokusai, they are brilliant and extraordinary artists. For they made art history, as art in Japan, is beautiful. And I always dream of Miss Hokusai and her blind younger sister every night.

Miss Hokusai

You probably recognize this as ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa’. Popular in Japan, as this made art history. The artist who did that, is him.

Hokusai. Very wise and brilliant, he did artwork in his entire life. Such as painting on a big sheet of paper, painting small birds on a small grain of rice, the sand too, believing in spirits that can be real such as dragons, and just paint until he finds it well done.

Her daughter, Miss Hokusai keeps an eye on him, as they do a lot of painting. However, what was important the most for her, was her blind younger sister. Born blind, she was like a mother to her. Protecting her from what may come, she is always at her side.

And when I looked at their artwork, the dragons were extraordinary. Some of their artwork may have been worse at first, but then they find a different way.

When this extraordinary anime masterpiece ended, it has stated that Hokusai died at the age of 90. What about Miss Hokusai? She married a kind young man, until she remained with her mother at home. And for where they live, Edo, Japan, became now as Tokyo, Japan.

For a success, from Production I.G., on this extraordinary masterpiece, 10/10 stars. ‘A+’.

And every night, whenever I sleep in my own bed, I always dream of Miss Hokusai and her blind younger sister. Happy together. To be there with them, as their samurai warrior. Protecting them from any enemy that threatens them. On the ones I do not appreciate the most in Hollywood. And I always remember these words as a warning:

“Anime is the best as always such as these extraordinary characters. Leave here now, and live. Or stay, and face your destiny”.

La La Land

Ryan Goshling and Emma Stone became very famous in this Oscar winning movie, that ALMOST won Best Picture. This movie only won six Oscar awards, and seven Golden Globe Awards. In fact, I give this 8 out of 10 stars.

In Los Angeles, California, everyone has a taste in music as well as for how things were glory in the 1940’s. For what famous movies were back then, as they talk about it throughout the movie. They also, did some songs from the 1980’s.

By the time an actress and a piano player fell in love together, they went through changes. They never gave up their hopes, and followed their dreams. But when they met again, five years later, they knew that they had a romantic thrill of a lifetime.

This was amazing and better than any musical movie in the world. Especially some animated musicals that weren’t very splendid. This is number 1#. And when you are falling in love with someone, I’d be aware of what you might go into.
