George Kennedy (1925-2016)

Legendary actor on this famous man. For he was the captain in “The Naked Gun” movies with Leslie Nielsen, a rebel soldier in “Spartacus” with Stanley Kubrick, one of the soldiers in “Small Soldiers”, the grandpa in “Dennis The Menace Strikes Again”, a mammoth in “Cats Don’t Dance”, a police officer in “Earthquake” with Charlton Heston, “In Harms Way” with Kirk Douglas and John Wayne, as well as being a passenger friend in “The Flight of the Phoenix”.

He knew legendary actors and directors in his time, such as his friend Leslie Nielsen, James Stewart, Gene Kelly, Charlton Heston, John Wayne, Stanley Kubrick, Hardy Kruger, Richard Attenborough, Ernest Borgnine, Paul Newman, Peter Finch,

He was also in “The Dirty Dozen”, “Cool Hand Luke”, “The Sons of Katie Elder”, “Cahill: United States Marshall”, as he also knew Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges in “Thunderbolt and Lightfoot”.

As he was in those “Airport” movies, the Japanese 1980 movie of “Virus”, he was finally in the comedy movie “Chattanooga Choo-Choo”. He made only one appearance in “Saturday Night Live” in 1981. He was also in one episode of “Fantasy Island” in 1983.

In his time as an actor, he only one Oscar. Best Supporting Actor in “Cool Hand Luke” with Paul Newman. He also won a Laurel award thanks to his performance in “Cool Hand Luke”. For Male Supporting Performance.

After he retired years later, he made cameos in other movies. His final one was “The Gambler”. With Mark Whalberg.

At the time of his death, he was the oldest living Oscar winner in the Best Supporting Actor category. He died of a heart failure on February 28th, 2016. The night of the 88th Academy Awards when Chris Rock hosted it. Since Leonard Nimoy was the first legendary actor to pass away in 2015, he was the first to pass away in 2016. First him, then Garry Shandling.

May he rest in peace, as he is in heaven now. With his friends again he always love on and knew. Leslie Nielsen, James Stewart, Charlton Heston, Stanley Kubrick, Gene Kelly, Lee Marvin, Ernest Borgnine, Paul Newman, John Wayne, and the rest in heaven. For he was the first to pass away in 2016 since Leonard Nimoy was the first in 2015.

I do love his movies, for what he was in. As no wonder he won that Oscar in “Cool Hand Luke”. For Best Supporting Actor. I’ll bet in 1978 when he was alive, after Christopher Walken won his Oscar in “The Deer Hunter”, for Best Supporting Actor, he and Walken were total best friends. As they were both Best Supporting Actors. I suppose, yes, they were best friends as Best Supporting Actors. In the time of their lives.
