George Kennedy (1925-2016)

Legendary actor on this famous man. For he was the captain in “The Naked Gun” movies with Leslie Nielsen, a rebel soldier in “Spartacus” with Stanley Kubrick, one of the soldiers in “Small Soldiers”, the grandpa in “Dennis The Menace Strikes Again”, a mammoth in “Cats Don’t Dance”, a police officer in “Earthquake” with Charlton Heston, “In Harms Way” with Kirk Douglas and John Wayne, as well as being a passenger friend in “The Flight of the Phoenix”.

He knew legendary actors and directors in his time, such as his friend Leslie Nielsen, James Stewart, Gene Kelly, Charlton Heston, John Wayne, Stanley Kubrick, Hardy Kruger, Richard Attenborough, Ernest Borgnine, Paul Newman, Peter Finch,

He was also in “The Dirty Dozen”, “Cool Hand Luke”, “The Sons of Katie Elder”, “Cahill: United States Marshall”, as he also knew Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges in “Thunderbolt and Lightfoot”.

As he was in those “Airport” movies, the Japanese 1980 movie of “Virus”, he was finally in the comedy movie “Chattanooga Choo-Choo”. He made only one appearance in “Saturday Night Live” in 1981. He was also in one episode of “Fantasy Island” in 1983.

In his time as an actor, he only one Oscar. Best Supporting Actor in “Cool Hand Luke” with Paul Newman. He also won a Laurel award thanks to his performance in “Cool Hand Luke”. For Male Supporting Performance.

After he retired years later, he made cameos in other movies. His final one was “The Gambler”. With Mark Whalberg.

At the time of his death, he was the oldest living Oscar winner in the Best Supporting Actor category. He died of a heart failure on February 28th, 2016. The night of the 88th Academy Awards when Chris Rock hosted it. Since Leonard Nimoy was the first legendary actor to pass away in 2015, he was the first to pass away in 2016. First him, then Garry Shandling.

May he rest in peace, as he is in heaven now. With his friends again he always love on and knew. Leslie Nielsen, James Stewart, Charlton Heston, Stanley Kubrick, Gene Kelly, Lee Marvin, Ernest Borgnine, Paul Newman, John Wayne, and the rest in heaven. For he was the first to pass away in 2016 since Leonard Nimoy was the first in 2015.

I do love his movies, for what he was in. As no wonder he won that Oscar in “Cool Hand Luke”. For Best Supporting Actor. I’ll bet in 1978 when he was alive, after Christopher Walken won his Oscar in “The Deer Hunter”, for Best Supporting Actor, he and Walken were total best friends. As they were both Best Supporting Actors. I suppose, yes, they were best friends as Best Supporting Actors. In the time of their lives.

Greg, Earl and the Dying Girl

We all know it’s terrible, to see a person pass away if he/she has gotten leukemia. But we all need a chance to spend time with that person one last time, before he/she passes away.

Two boys are stop frame animated artists, as they make their own movies. Even parodies of movies of their own by the titles. Movies for example, “A Sockwork Orange”; that’s a spoof of that with socks to Stanley Kubrick’s “A Clockwork Orange”.

In the scene they are in the movie shop, they remind me of the record shop scene in “A Clockwork Orange”. When Alex meets the two girls. In that scene, they find DVD copies of movies. Hayao Miyazaki’s “Spirited Away”, I saw a DVD copy in that, as they show movie posters, books and all that to those classics. Books like “Paths of Glory” with Kirk Douglas, Laurence Olivier in “Hamlet”, and posters like “Pulp Fiction” directed by Quentin Tarantino, a guy on the clock tower in a silent black and white movie, “Taxi Driver”, “Sunday Bloody Sunday”, and the original black and white version of “Night of the Living Dead”.

Eating red licorice and having fun, they get into helping a friend, when she gets leukemia. She needed her best time to live on her final days before her death. They showed her the movies they made. After a fight, trouble and hell, the dying girl wanted to just give up and just pass away anyway.

It’s a good movie, based on a 2012 novel. I just love how they did these parody spoof movies. In this are Thomas Mann, RJ Cyler, and Olivia Cooke.

Garry Shandling (1949-2016)

Garry Shandling that I know of, was the turtle in the Dreamwork’s animated movie, “Over the Hedge”. As Vern, he was to help the animals as they were to gather food as spring arrived. And make sure how many days there are before winter. As it came to an end to that movie, the bright side of nature is on them, passing the hedge, in their own nature land.

What is totally funny is how as that turtle, he is naked!! When the squirrel gets attacked by girl scouts, he comes to the rescue, out of his shell as the girls see his bare naked butt.

On March 24th, 2016, he was rushed to the hospital. And there on that day, he died of a heart attack. That was surprising when that happened, since Stanley Kubrick died of a heart attack in 1999.

He was good in his time as an actor. He was also the male pigeon in “Dr. Dolittle” with Eddie Murphy, himself in “Zoolander”, as he was on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, and “Mixed Nuts” with Steve Martin.

He won five Comedy Awards, 14 more awards as he was nominated into some festivals for being a host. He was good at some point. After “Over the Hedge”, he was in that short animated movie to that movie. “Hammy’s Boomerang Adventure”.

And I quote his awesome line in “Over the Hedge”….

“We want nothing to deal with anything, that is over that hedge!!”.

Garry did ended up like Stanley Kubrick, Michael Clarke Duncan and many stars and celebrities that died of a heart attack. But he will be remembered. Forever. He will see a spring forever when he is heaven.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay (Part 1 & Part 2)

Like the final chapter of “Harry Potter” and “The Twilight Saga”, this struck the Hunger Games saga of the book, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” as it was adapted into a two part movie. Part 1 and Part 2. Jennifer Lawrence plays Katniss Everdeen who becomes not only ‘The Girl on Fire’ again, but as ‘The Mockingjay’. Along with Liam Hemsworth as Gale, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee, they are with all of Panem in the revolution against the Capitol.

Introducing in this is Julianne Moore as President Coin, leader of the revolution as she’s in control of the underground base of District 13. Her colonel is played by the same actor who played a mercenary in “Predators” who was interesting.

Part 1 began with Katniss, after the destruction of the Hunger Games, she was rescued as she was trying to calm down while in District 13. She was introduced to Coin as she became a revolution leader known as ‘The Mockingjay’. She paid a visit to what was left of District 12 as it was in ruins. She grabbed a few things from her house, including their house cat. Working with Gale, the colonel and a film crew, they were armed and loaded with explosive arsenal. They paid a visit to District 8 as they were trying to save people in a hospital. Fighters came from the Capitol as they destroyed it, and bits of District 8.

With Beetee hacking into the TV and Wi-Fi of the districts, Katniss gave out a message to that and the Capitol as she was furious. Everyone in the districts agreed with her.

Three battles have happened, including the District 8 hospital fight. There was that, how lumberjacks in District 7 took out some Peacekeepers by placing landmines and killing them, and how a rebel demolition team blew up a dam in District 5. Causing a blackout in the Capitol. Fighters from the Capitol almost destroyed District 13 when President Snow was haunting Katniss. He warned people in districts that if they do the symbol of the Mockingjay or the three finger call, they will get shot. And make things his own way.

A rescue team finally rescued Annie, Johanna and Peeta from the Capitol as it was a success. However, Peeta was hijacked with tracker jacker venom as he went crazy. You can tell by his skin and his eyes. He was brainwashed to kill Katniss but never did. Katniss was almost strangled to death when her colonel saved her. Knocked out Peeta. She wore a neck brace on her neck after that, as it was gonna take a while for her to get better. You can tell by her eyes. As Katniss was recovering, Peeta was in a white isolated room, strapped to a table very, very tight as it was gonna take a while. He was trying to get out, but never did. That was when after he was tired, it went from Part 1 to Part 2.

Part 2 began was not only to stop a military stronghold in District 2, but to assassinate President Snow for sure. It took quite a while for Peeta to recover and stop that hijacking in him. Even taking out the venom. He remembers for sure as he felt better, but had felt the terrible pain when they were torturing him. The same went for Katniss when her neck got better. After Finnick married Annie in District 13, they had a celebration dance as they were happy. Even Primrose danced with Katniss as they were to be together, probably before the final conflict. Johanna without her hair, was funny like that. Bald. Even at the wedding when Katniss and Johanna were talking.

After that, Katniss with Peeta, Finnick, Gale, and trusted friends, they’ve mobilized a unit from District 13 for the assassination on President Snow to begin. After all, he has to pay for what he had done wrong. However, with the Capitol armed with booby traps such as black thick oil, mutant blind zombies in the sewers, flamethrowers, laser beams, and calibe machine guns, this is like the 76th Hunger Games. But not. The assassination on President Snow had to an end on him!!

As they faced experience, life and the booby traps, they made it to the centre of Capitol as Peacekeeper troops were annihilating everything. So Gale and Katniss had to put on hooded disguises so they won’t be seen. Almost by the Peacekeeper troops, a furious battle was raged by the people of the Districts against them. Every Peacekeeper was annihilated and killed as explosions and gun firing were everywhere. Until, all the Peacekeeper troops were dead for good riddance. Including their commander from “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”.

By the time when some of her friends were killed, and her sister Prim, President Coin was the new leader. Snow was ready for execution, as truth was foretold. They are the future of Panem. So Katniss horribly, but tragedly, killed President Coin. Snow laughed coughing up blood as the people of Panem cam running up to him, killing him.

Donald Sutherland as that president is one god awful hogging squealer as he shall remain in hell for what he had done wrong. Especially when he’ll find out that for where he shall remain, will stay blazing hot enough.

After that, like the book, Annie had a child as Peeta and Katniss watch their children play in th meadow. There are much worse games to play. 7/10 stars on both parts.

Philip Seymour Hoffman was a really good actor who played Plutarch Heavensbee, as these two movies were dedicated in the loving memory of him. We shall never forget that wonderful actor, as this was all true like what you read in the Hunger Games books. The rest of the cast were really good that I am proud of.

For D. Sutherland and Kiefer, the next time they play bad guys, both will deserve a death wish on these two. In my own words, ‘Three hearts, two minds, one bullet’.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman (1967-2014)

I’ve heard about him as I felt sorry for him when he passed away in February 2014. But he was a good man and a really great actor anyway. He appeared in many movies. He was in “Twister”, “The Big Lebowski”, “Mission Impossible III”, and “Moneyball”.

Before he died, he was Plutarch Heavensbee in the two later movies of the Hunger Games saga. He was the new head Gamemaker who volunteered as he was in the Third Quarter Quell of the 75th Annual Hunger Games. He became a rebel to President Snow later, as he helped President Coin in District 13 to help win the revolution in the two part movies of ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’.

Along with Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, Liam Hemsworth as Gale, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, and the rest of Panem who are trying to survive the revolution, they have taken on the Capitol as they took President Snow to the gates of hell by assassinating him. He did a grand job.

“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” Part 1 & Part 2 are dedicated in the loving memory of him since had died. But his legacy will remain forever, as we will never forget this kind man. Does have a good smile and how he met Jennifer when they were in the dance scene of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”.

Rest in peace Hoffman. Even when you are Plutarch Heavensbee.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

In a sequel to the book by Suzanne Collins of “The Hunger Games”, then came this 6 1/2 out of a 10 star movie. Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci, Toby Jones, and Donald Sutherland return as their recurring characters in the Hunger Games saga in this sequel. Only this time, since Wes Bentley as the previous game maker died by those poison berries, then came a new Gamemaker. Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee, who volunteered in this as he did a great performance. This and ‘Mockingjay’ were his last performances before he died. This and the final chapter were dedicated to the loving memory of him.

Since the 74th Annual Hunger Games, things have changed a bit as Katniss and Peeta were on a victory tour in the winter. When President Snow made a visit at Katniss’ house and her family, he warned her for what she did last year. He even told her there might be a spark of a revolution coming up. So she remained silent.

During the victory tour, people in districts have been doing the Mockingjay whistle and the three finger Mockingjay call as they would wish for her. However, to those who do that will get shot. White armoured soldiers known as Peacekeepers were seen in the first movie as they held sticks and shields. Like if they are riot guards. This time, they became armed and serious as they held handguns, flamethrowers, and assault rifles. They did had flying vehicles in the first movie, but these vehicles were armed like warships. Not much road vehicles were in the first as they were seen mostly in this sequel. Things have changed a year later as things were serious.

This was a sign of revolution as there were many riots in districts as they have been writing messages and doing the Mockingjay picture. President Snow was furious. Gale was even beaten up by the commander as Peacekeepers have ruined things for what people had in District 12. Gale was aided well. Before the tour ended, Katniss and Peeta were introduced to the new Gamemaker, Plutarch Heavensbee as he looked great. Did made a great dance with Katniss. How did he became the new Gamemaker? Like Katniss, he volunteered.

Summer came as President Snow made an announcement. Every 25 years in the Hunger Games, there was championship final called a Quarter Quell. That was when Katniss and Peeta had to return to the Capitol, and face the champions. And they did. They made some friends they would trust like Beetee, Johanna, Finnick, and Annie as the 75th Annual Hunger Games began for this Third Quarter Quell. They did faced some problems before this began as the games were still on, as how Katniss was dressed up as a Mockingjay and how the dressmaker was beaten by the Peacekeepers. For what he did on the Mockingjay dress.

There were killer baboons, poison gas, high tides, blood flowing out of nowhere, as the stadium they were in was like a clock. Some tributes where killed in this, as there was a tree that can deal with electricity. When she fired an arrow with an electric wire, she shot it upwards as power went out throughout the stadium. The stadium was crumbling around them, as Beetee, Finnick and Katniss were rescued by Haymitch and Plutarch. Plutarch is a rebel against Snow as he rescued them, but Peeta, Annie and Johanna were taken to the Capitol.

With Gale, they were in a underground base known as District 13 as they were there with other people from District 12, when bombers firebombed District 12 after the games. It was all gone. Destroyed. Almost 1,000 people made it out as 10,000 died in the attack on District 12. With Katniss furious, the revolution had just begun.

That will happen, in the final chapter of the Hunger Games saga. “Mockingjay” in two parts.

The Hunger Games

Based on the novel by Suzanne Collins, like all games you can play, there are some games where you have to survive in a dystopian future, where you fight to the death. In what was left of North America, after a big global worldwide warfare, North America was in ruins as a new future began. Where there were 12 districts, as people worked hard in each district. Some children can go off in the forest, hunting for food without being caught. And every summer, they would begin the reaping. For the summer event on the ‘fight to the death’ to choose what they chose. A boy and a girl from each district would be chosen and taken to the big city where rich people are. They called that city, the Capitol. 24 can go in, only one winner can come out to win for fame, glory and money. Terrible for children to die in that event, as some people would grew sad.

They called this worldwide event, the Hunger Games.

This was the 74th Annual Hunger Games when this did. Katniss Everdeen played by Jennifer Lawrence, volunteered to this when she decided to change her sister’s place when she was chosen. There was her and a boy named Peeta played by Josh Hutcherson. They were starting to fall in love together slowly when they did, during the games and after the games.

In this were Haymitch played by Woody Harrelson who told them tips of this, a friend named Gale in District 12 played by Liam Hemsworth, Caesar Flickerman who was a TV announcer played by Stanley Tucci, along with Toby Jones as a friend, Seneca Crane, who was the Gamemaker of the 74th Annual Hunger Games played by Wes Bentley, and President Snow of the Capitol played by Donald Sutherland. There were other characters who were very interesting. They were introduced, as Katniss became known as ‘The Girl on Fire’. You can tell because of special effects on flames when she wears a dress.

After training for this event, they were ready. They were placed in the stadium as the games began. Slaughter, horror, terror, and survival, each tribute had died while fighting one by one. Katniss did get parachuted gifts for survival at night, but at morning, with the help of an alley, she did tricked some of the tributes and killed one by cutting off the branch of a tracker jacker nest. She did get stung a bit, but she was recovered thanks to that alley.

What was interesting in this, was how she is great in archery for what she did in this movie, and how she sang a song to her sister as she sang that to that alley before she died. But what was really interesting, after getting a pin and looking at the trees, there are birds called, ‘Mockingjays’. And she was really good in whistling. Shooting well in archery, and using a Mockingjay three finger call, people in districts understand well when they were watching this on TV.

A riot was in one of the districts as they wanted payback. When Katniss found Peeta, both have been trying to survive as there was the final fight. Beasts have been on the move as they survived. They were crowned as they became a love couple, and the winners of the 74th Annual Hunger Games. A happy ending it was for them, as the Gamemaker was in trouble for what he did. He was locked in a room, and ate poison berries from the games to death. This was a worldwide hit, throughout the world as I give this 7/10 stars.

MythBusters (2003-2016)

For 14 long years, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman have long to do this. On solving myths. They don’t just tell the myths. They put them to the test. However, they tell people to not try any of the experiments they see, at home.

From gun firing on fire arms, explosions in areas, flamethrowers, exploding buildings and more of that, they have been doing a lot of testing. Joining them are Kari Byron, Tori Belleci and Grant Imahara.

They also did animals from farms, ice tests in Alaska, some stuff you do at home, and more of that. Confirming some myths from movies was one thing they did, to show that they would work. They did lots.

In 2009, Kari was pregant as Jessi Combs, took her place for a while. She was on maternity leave cause she was a mother. In a while, she finally returned.

On August 21st, 2014, it was Kari, Grant and Tori’s final episode that they ever did as they just gave up. Kari was a mother as Tori, Jessi and Grant have families to take care also. They weren’t bored. They just have family responsibilities to take care on. So they left.

Jamie and Adam were the only ones left to run the show. They were okay at that time. By October 2015, they confirmed that their season in 2016, will be the last one. It was their final season. From a railroad tanker car, to cement and explosions, rockets and more, it was their final shot and best times they ever had.

On March 13th, 2016, they had their grand finale. And a Mythbusters reunion on March 20th, 2016. That was their very final episode as everyone came for one last time. Adam, Jamie, Kari, Tori, Grant, and Jessi were all there. They had a great time as they said goodbye to everyone in the end. And thanked for everyone on supporting them when they are watching that TV show and loved it. Then they left, took their things, and left their base empty for where they once lived. And left their favourite places empty also. The harbor runway, and explosion area. All their days were over. But we’ll never forget those two best TV guys. Like if they are Bob and Doug Mckenzie, or Wayne and Garth. They all had a good time.

Since that best TV show from the Discovery Channel is cancelled, no longer available, people and fans can be wondering…

“What TV show will come to an end in a series finale, be the next of all?”

In the Heart of the Sea

Chris Hemsworth, Benjamin Walker, Tom Holland, Frank Dillane, Ben Whishaw, and Brendan Gleeson were in this cast away movie, inspired by the novel “Moby Dick” by Herman Melville. Directed by Ron Howard, this showed how Herman Melville wrote his story, from one of the sailors, he told on how he saw a great white sperm whale. This was based on the book by Nathaniel Philbrick, as he was inspired by the novel, “Moby Dick”.

When a whaling crew, needed to get more whale oil, they went whale hunting. So they went down south, around South America, as they killed only one sperm whale. While in South America for a visit, one of the whalers told the entire crew how he lost his arm. A great white sperm whale. It ate his left arm as it destroyed his crew. By the time they saw it, it was a devil whale. Big with white spots. It was the white devil whale.

It sank it’s ship and killed bits of it’s crew as they were stranded at sea. They were on a island for a few days, when they had to face one problem. Cannibals on cannibalism. They had to face cannibals on cannibalism in order to survive. I can’t say for what happened, but it’s a secret.

I’d may have to say, they did had to face cannibalism. Even if they were natives on that island. Almost like Dr. Hannibal ‘Cannibal’ Lector from the Oscar winning movie, “The Silence of the Lambs”. Played by Anthony Hopkins.

For what I saw, 10/10 stars on this.

Celebrating 20 years of Pokémon

See what I mean? That’s what happens on a 20th anniversary. Celebrating an anime popular franchise. There is all the merchandise, playing the card games, and collecting collectables. But not only that, on ITunes, Google Play, and Amazon Instant Video, the digitally remastered first three movies are there. “Pokémon: The First Movie”, “Pokémon 2000: The Movie”, and “Pokémon 3: The Movie”.

They had ever hit theaters long ago, as they were the best ones.

As we celebrate to that, we’ll never forget the first movies, that had ever hit theaters.

Happy 20th Anniversary Pokémon!! Soon, it will be the 20th anniversary, to when Ash and Pikachu first met.
