The Black Stallion (1979)

Based of the book by Walter Farley, this shows a true friendship. It even has a good cast in it. Mickey Rooney, Kelly Reno, Teri Garr, and Hoyt Axton.

When a shipwreck happened off the coast of North Africa, a boy and a black Arabian horse were the only survivors. Together, they became great friends. They rode on the beach together, they sleep together at night by the fire, as well as playing in the sand together.

It wasn’t before long when an Italian fishing boat, was able to rescue them. They were brought home to America, as they got into horse racing. Mickey Rooney as a horse coach, was able to train them as they became champions together.

So for a fantastic horse movie, I give this 8/10 stars. Better than the sequels, I prefer this classic thanks to Francis Ford Coppola.
